Mercury City striker Fabris Balbîn has died at the age of 26. Balbîn, who was a member of the Gerenian side that defeated Mercury in the 2016 Confederations Cup final, passed away at his home in the capital this morning, and is the second Mercury City player to die in the last 12 months, after 19-year-old Theo Perry was killed in a car crash last August.
A spokesperson for the club said of Balbîn "We were all devastated to hear the news this morning of the passing of our player. We ask that everyone respects the privacy of Fabris and that of his team mates and friends at this sad time. We will be announcing details of a memorial event in due course."
