Currency Bill (2014)

Schedule
This Bill sets the official currency for the Republic of Mercury.

Section 1 - Currency
a) The official currency of the Republic of Mercury shall be the Mercury Credit.
b) The symbol for the Mercury Credit is "Cr"
c) The Mercury Credit is pegged to the value of one Craite.
d) The Mercury Credit is divided into 100 Cents.

Section 2 - Banknote Denominations
The denominations of Bank of Mercury banknotes shall be:
a) Cr 1
b) Cr 5
c) Cr 10
d) Cr 20
e) Cr 50
f) Cr 100
g) Cr 500
h) Cr 1,000

Section 3 - Coin Denominations
The denominations of Bank of Mercury coins shall be:
a) Cr 0.01
b) Cr 0.05
c) Cr 0.10
d) Cr 0.25
e) Cr 0.50
f) Cr 1.00
g) Cr 2.00

Section 4 - Legal Tender
a) All Bank of Mercury banknotes shall be legal tender up to any amount.
b) Bank of Mercury coins up to 10 Cents shall be legal tender up to the amount of Cr 2.
c) Bank of Mercury coins of value 25 Cents or 50 Cents shall be legal tender up to the value of Cr 10.
d) Higher value Bank of Mercury coins shall be legal tender up to the value of Cr 25.

Section 5 - Other currencies
a) The Craitish Craite is also accepted for use in the Republic of Mercury.
b) This can be exchanged in any bank into Bank of Mercury banknotes free of charge.

Section 6 - Other forms of payment
a) Shell cards, as used in Tellia, shall be provided by the Bank of Mercury upon request for a one-off charge of Cr 10.
b) Shell card terminals are provided to businesses free of charge, but additional terminals are provided for a charge of Cr 75.
c) Foreign shell cards may be used in the Republic of Mercury free of charge.

This Bill was passed by a majority of voting Members of Parliament, and is hence enacted into Law.
