Amendments to the Constitution

Original text of Chapter I, Articles 1-2:
Quote:Article 1. Style
a) Republic of Mercury refers to the four constituent countries combined.
b) Mercury refers to the country of Mercury.
c) State of Mercury refers to the state of Mercury.
d) City of Mercury refers to the city of Mercury.

Article 2. Constituents
a) The Republic is a union of four constituent countries: Lucerne, Mercury, Nova England and Nova English Korea.
b) Mercury is composed of five states: Deacon, May, Mercury, Taylor and Tow Law.
c) The city of Mercury shall be the capital and seat of the Government and Parliament.

a) The national flag of the Republic is a three vertical bands of yellow, white and yellow.

Article 6. Official languages
English is the national and official language. Lucian is a recognised language, and is approved for use within Lucerne.

Original text of Chapter II, Article 8:
Quote:a) The President is not a serving member of Parliament. Any Member of Parliament who is selected as candidate for the Presidency shall forfeit their seat or reject the nomination.
a) The President shall be elected by the Members of Parliament at the commencement of their term.
b) Each Parliamentary party shall be entitled to nominate one candidate.
c) If a candidate achieves a majority of over 50%, he shall be elected immediately.
d) If no candidate achieves a majority, then the candidate with the fewest number of votes is eliminated and another ballot is held.

Replaced by:
