Telephone numbers in Mercury
#2
Special numbers
These numbers can be dialled free of charge from any telephone provider.

(0)101x - Dialing this prefix followed by any sequence of numbers will always connect to the emergency services. The leading '0' may be omitted for emergency numbers. An operator will ask which service you require, but if you are in a situation where announcing which service you require could put you in danger (such as being in the close vicinity of an in-progress violent crime), the following extensions can be used to connect to a specific service:
(0)1010 - Police
(0)1011 - Fire
(0)1012 - Ambulance
(0)1013 - Coastguard
(0)1014 - Airspace control
(0)1015 - Technical rescue (Rescue situations where a specialist team may be required)
(0)1016 - Bomb disposal
(0)1017 - Transport service (For infrastructure-related emergencies where life is not in immediate danger)
(0)1018 - Civil order management (For riot situations or other situations of widespread civil disorder)
(0)1019 - Disaster relief
Intentional and malicious hoax calls to any of the above numbers will, if found guilty, lead to a mandatory prison sentence. One or more officers will always attend when a silent call or abandoned call is made.

01020 - Automated government services (such as weather warnings, speaking clock etc.)
01021-01099 - Reserved
011xx - Government offices
012xx - Nationwide companies (such as transport companies, banks etc.)
01300-01999 - Reserved
